NFL Super Bowl Futures Odds: Pick 6

0

If the old saying that goes, ‘The cream always rises to the top’ is true, then one of these six teams will likely hoist the Vince Lombardi Super Bowl trophy that will be awarded to the winning team following February’s Super Bowl XLV.

Of course, as nothing is ever etched in stone when it comes to professional sports, none of these teams is guaranteed anything at all, except 16 mostly hard-fought regular season games, but I genuinely believe at least one – and likely both – Super Bowl 45 participants will come out of this grouping.

These six teams may be among the best in the game today while sitting atop this year’s NFL Super Bowl Futures Odds, but each franchise is offering pro football betting enthusiasts absolutely phenomenal Futures Odds.

This look at each team will give NFL bettors a bit of insight before making this exciting, season-long wager.

Indianapolis Colts +800
Led by arguably the best quarterback in the game today, the Colts have recorded eight straight double-digit win seasons and fell just short of winning their second Super Bowl championship of the Peyton Manning era this past February. Placing a wager on the Colts is almost a must if you ask me!

New Orleans Saints +900
Sure, the Saints had a magical season last year and will undoubtedly face a tougher road this time around as every team on their schedule will be gunning for them in the worst way. Still, I think it would be a real disservice to say the Saints don’t have a chance because of a Super Bowl hangover or complacency, particularly with their class-act quarterback, Drew Brees leading by example. New Orleans definitely needs to get better defensively, but I’m just ‘keeping it real’ by saying there aren’t many teams in the league that have an offense that can compete with the Saints’.

San Diego Chargers +900
If there is one team on this list that I am skeptical about, it’s the Chargers!

Why?

Mostly because the Chargers keep falling short of their intended destination in spite of having arguably the most talented roster in the league.

Still, the Bolts are loaded and will have a shot to win it all, even if they do play for a head coach (Norv Turner) I will always feel is better suited to being a coordinator than the head man in charge.

Dallas Cowboys +1000
The Cowboys looked very good last season in reaching the postseason for the first time in a dozen years, but were convincingly overwhelmed by the Vikings in the playoffs. Now, the Boys are back with a team that looks very strong on both sides of the ball and may have the best front seven of any team in the league. One thing’s for sure .. the ‘Boys aren’t lacking in motivation – even if their left tackle position is a big cause for worry.

New York Jets +1200
The Jets fell just short of reaching the Super Bowl in the very first year of the Rex Ryan era. New York also had a rookie quarterback starting for them last season so I fully expect Mark Sanchez and the Jets to be even better in 2010. New York may be fifth in the NFL oddsmakers’ minds, but with the game’s most voracious defense, I like their chances of reaching Super Bowl XLV more than the Chargers no matter what the NFL odds say.

Minnesota Vikings +1400
The Vikings fell agonizingly short of reaching the Super Bowl last season, but will have an excellent shot of winning it all again this season, particularly if veteran quarterback Brett Favre comes back (he will). The Vikes are loaded on both sides of the ball and could be the odds on favorite to win the NFC if you believe the Saints will have a Super Bowl hangover and the Cowboys aren’t quite ready for prime time.
